Gray Hair

I am a woman in my late 40s. I've been feeling down lately because I've been getting more and more gray hairs over the past year. I have lots of gray hairs around my sideburns now. They are even growing like mushrooms after the rain in areas where they are highly noticeable, like my crown.

​저는 40대 후반 여성입니다. 최근 1년 사이에 흰머리가 부쩍 늘어서 슬픕니다. 이제는 구레나룻 부분에도 흰머리가 너무 많습니다. 정수리처럼 잘 보이는 부분에도 흰머리가 우후죽순으로 자라고 있더라고요.

I now have to visit the salon more frequently to cover up my gray hair. I used to go just once every five or six months to get a perm. But now, I go every three months just to dye my hair.

​이제 흰머리를 가리기 위해 미용실에 가는 주기도 짧아졌습니다. 예전에는 미용실에 5~6개월에 한 번씩 가서 파마를 했습니다. 그런데 지금은 염색을 하기 위해 미용실에 3개월에 한 번 정도 갑니다.

I've heard that genes play a major role in gray hair. It's clear that l've inherited this from my parents. Aging itself is already difficult to accept, but seeing more and more gray hairs makes me feel even sadder.

흰머리는 유전적인 요인이 크게 작용한다고 들었습니다. 제가 부모님을 닮은 게 확실한 것 같습니다. 나이가 드는 것도 이미 서러운데, 흰머리까지 늘어나는 모습을 보니 너무 슬프네요.​
