Menstrual Cycles and Acne 월경 주기와 여드름

 

The area of my mouth breaks out starting a week before I get my period. This has been a constant source of stress for me. That made me curious about the relationship between menstrual cycles and acne, so I started to look into it. 

 

Just before menstraion, there's an increase in androgen hormones in the bloodstream, leading to heightened sebum production. When access sebum blocks the pores, they swell up and become infected with germs, which causes the breakouts. 

 

Also, the body's hydration levels decrease during menstration, which dries out the skin and makes it easier for pimples to form. I've come to understand that breakouts during my period are normal. When I do break out, there is nothing for it but to properly cleanse my face, apply moisturizer, and just take better care of my skin. 

 

저는 월경을 하기 1주 전부터 입 주변에 여드름이 나서, 계속 스트레스를 받아왔습니다. 그래서 월경 주기와 여드름의 연관성에 대해 궁금증을 갖게 되어 더 알아보기 시작했습니다.

 

월경 직전에는 혈중 안드로겐 호르몬 수치가 증가하여 피지 생성이 활발해집니다. 이렇게 피지가 많이 생성되어 모공이 막히면, 부풀어 오르고 세균에 감염되어 여드름이 생기는 것입니다.

 

또한 월경 중에는 체내 수분량도 감소하는데, 이로 인해 피부가 건조해져서 여드름이 생기기 쉬워집니다. 저는 월경 기간에 여드름이 생기는 것은 정상적이라는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 여드름이 나면 세안을 잘하고, 보습제를 바르고, 피부 관리를 더 잘하는 방법밖에 없는 듯합니다.

B: Yes, I got a pimple right next to my lip. 네, 입술 바로 옆에 여드름이났어요.

A: Oh, no. That must be painful. 아이고, 아프시겠어요.

B: It hurts a lot worse that I expected. 생각보다 훨씬 아프네요.

A: It it gets too big, you should see a dermatologist. 너무 커지면 피부과에 가 보세요.

B: I'm thinking about it, actually. 실은 그럴까 생각 중이에요.

Tom : Happy Valentine's Day, Mina. Any plans for today? 해피 밸런타인데이, 미나! 오늘 뭐 특별한 계획 있어? 

Mina : You, too, Tom. I'm going on a date with my boyfriend. I hope he surprises me with something nice. 응, 너도, 톰. 난 남자 친구랑 데이트하러 갈 거야. 그가 뭔가 근사한 것으로 날 놀라게 해 주면 좋겠는데.

Tom : That sounds lovely. I'll be video chatting with my girlfriend in LA. 그거 참 아름답군! 난 LA에 있는 여자 친구랑 영상 통화를 하려고.

Mina : Long-distance relationships must be tough, but you two seem to be going so strong. I think that's just great. 장거리 연애는 참 힘들 텐데, 그래도 너희 둘은 아주 굳건히 잘 유지하는 것 같아. 아주 대단해.
