Dream Lenses

 

Before my eldest daughter started grade school, her vision took a downturn. It got to the point where she needed glasses. Based on suggestions from acquaintances and advice from a doctor, I decided on dream lenses.

​첫째 딸이 초등학교에 입학하기 전, 시력이 안경을 써야 할 정도로 나빠졌다. 나는 지인들의 제안과 의사의 조언을 바탕으로 드림렌즈를 선택했다.

 

Dream lenses are special contact lenses designed to correct nearsightedness(↔farsightedness) and astigmatism(어스'티'그마티즘) by flattening(눌러주다) the center of the cornea('코'ㄹ니아; 각막). You wear them when you go to bed, and when you remove them the next morning, your vision is temporarily restored.

​드림렌즈란 각막의 중심부를 눌러 근시와 난시를 교정하는 특수 콘택트렌즈이다. 잘 때 착용하고 다음 날 아침에 빼면, 시력이 일시적으로 회복된다.

 

They eliminate the need for glasses or contacts(콘택트렌즈를 줄여 쓸 땐, 콘택츠로) during daily activities, which makes sports like swimming more convenient. However, the lenses are expensive. With artificial tears, storage solution(액체), cleaning solution, and saline(세일린), the costs add up. Moreover, wearing lenses(드림렌즈라는 특수성때문에 렌즈로 줄임) for more than 8 hours can strain the eyes, so they must be removed early in the morning.

일상생활에서 안경이나 렌즈를 낄 필요가 없어서, 수영 등의 운동을 할 때 더 편하다. 그러나 렌즈 가격이 비싸고, 인공 눈물, 보존액, 세척액, 식염수도 필요해서 다 합하면 돈이 제법 들어간다. 또한 8시 간 이상 렌즈를 착용할 경우 눈에 무리가 가서, 새벽에 일어나서 렌즈를 빼야 한다.

I hope that better vision correction methods will be developed in the future, so that our children can enjoy their daily lives more comfortably.

​앞으로 더 좋은 시력 교정 방법이 개발되어 우리 아이들이 더욱 편하게 일상생활을 할 수 있으면 좋겠다.

My son usually reads for a while when he goes to bed.

03) the costs add up 다 합하면 비용이 성당하다.

인공 눈물, 보존액, 세척액, 식염수도 필요해서 다 합하면 돈이 제법 들어간다.

별거 아닌 것 같지만, 다 합하면 비용이 상당하다.

다 합해 보니 상당한 비용이 들어서 큰 금액을 지불해야 했다.

A : 제법 가까이에 있는 글씨도 잘 안

A: He says he can't see text clearly, even at a fairly close distance. 보인다고 하네요.

B: He's too young to start wearing glasses. You should talk to a doctor about dream lenses. 안경을 쓰기에는 너무 어린 나이인데, 드림렌즈에 대해 의사와 한번 상담해 보세요.
