Renewed Determination
l once had a sudden realization that English might become a stumbling block in my life. So, starting last year, I started diligently studying English.
영어가 내 인생에 걸림돌이 될 수도 있겠다는 생각을 문득 한 적이 있습니다. 그래서 작년부터 열심히 영어 공부를 하기 시작했습니다.
About a month into my studies, I saw an ad for a device that uses Al technology to provide translations instantly. Seeing this made me question(=wonder) whether I really needed to study English. Plus, using ChatGPT made it so easy to write e-mails in English that it shook my determination to continue learning.
영어 공부를 시작한 지 한 달쯤 지났을 때, AI 기술을 이용해 바로 통역을 해 주는 기기가 나온다는 광고를 보았습니다. 그걸 보면서 한편으로 영어 공부를 정말 해야 되는지 의문이 들기도 했습니다. 또한 챗GPT를 활용하면 영어 이메일을 작성하는 것도 매우 쉽기 때문에, 영어 공부를 계속하려는 의지가 흔들렸습니다.
However, I came to believe that such technologies will be most effective if I have a solid foundation in English myself. With this renewed mindset, l've been studying consistently. I hope that one day I'll be able to speak and write freely in English. I am committed to working hard to achieve that goal.
하지만, 이러한 기술은 내가 영어 실력이 있어야 제대로 활용할 수 있을 거라는 생각이 들기도 했습니 다. 그래서 다시 마음을 다잡고, 꾸준히 공부하고 있습니다. 언젠가는 영어로 자유롭게 말하고 쓸 수 있기를 바라며, 그 목표를 달성하기 위해 열심히 공부하고자 합니다.

Dialogue Practice
A: Because of Al technology these days, I wonder whether I even need to study English. 요즘 AI 때문에 영어 공부를 굳이 해야 하나 싶어요.
B: Al has definitely made things a lot more convenient. AI 덕분에 훨씬 더 편해지기는 했죠.
A: But at the same time(한편으로는), I feel like I can't fully take advantage of Al unless I learn English. 그런데 한편으로는 영어를 배우지 않으면, AI를 잘 활용하지 못할 수도 있다는 생각이 들어요.
B: That's true. Without English skills, you might end up blindly trusting whatever Al provides. 맞아요. 영어를 못하면 AI가 주는 결과물을 그냥 맹신하게 되죠.
A: That's exactly what l'm worried about. 제가 걱정하는 부분이 바로 그거예요.
B: Think of it this way- the Al era has made it much easier to study English. AI 시대이니 영어 공부하기가 훨씬 좋아졌다고 생각하면 될 것 같아요.
