Photo Outings

 

A while ago, I went on a photo outing to Changgyeonggung Palace with some classmates from my photography class. This time, I brought along my eldest son, who has recently started to enjoy playing with his old man's camera.

​얼마 전 사진 수업을 함께 듣는 분들과 창경궁으로 출사를 다녀왔다. 이번 출사는 최근 들어 아빠의 사진기를 만지작거리는 것을 즐기기 시작한 큰아들과 함께했다.

 

At first, I just wanted him to have a variety of experiences. But after seeing the photos he took, I found myself wanting to recommend this activity to other parents. His photos perfectly captured what he wanted to see and reflected his unconscious perspective.

​처음에는 그저 아이가 다양한 체험을 했으면 하는 마음뿐이었다. 그러나 아이가 찍은 사진을 보고 나니 다른 부모들에게도 이런 활동을 추천하고 싶어졌다. 아이가 찍은 사진에는 아이가 보고자 하는 것들과 아이의 무의식이 고스란히 담겨 있었다.

 

Children see the things we take for granted and capture them in photos through their unique perspectives. This activity offers a glimpse into their minds, at least indirectly. I plan to hand over my camera to my kids more often in the future.

​아이들은 우리가 익숙하게 여기는 것들을 자기만의 시선으로 보고 사진에 옮긴다. 이런 활동은 우 리가 간접적으로나마 아이들의 정신 세계를 엿볼 수 있게 한다. 앞으로도 종종 나는 아이에게 카메라를 쥐여 줄 생각이다.

Many of the things we take for granted are very precious. 우리가 당연하게 여기는 것들 중에는 매우 귀중한 것들도 많다.

That's a benefit that shouldn't be taken for granted and capture them in그건 당연하게 여겨서는 안 되는 혜택이다.

I admire that artist's unique perspective. 나는 그 화가의 독특한 시선이 감탄스럽다.

I want to hear about her unique perspective on this issue.이 사안에 대한 그녀의 고유한 견해를 들어 보고 싶다.

 

Dialogue Practice

A: Show me the pictures you took today. 오늘 찍은 사진들 좀 보여줘.

B: Sure, take a look at this one. I really like this photo of a tree. 응, 여기 이 사진 좀 봐. 난 나무 사진이 정말 좋더라.

A: Wow, that's great. It feels like the work of a pro. 와 정말 멋지네. 전문가가 찍은 느낌이야.

B: My son took that. 그거 우리 아들이 찍은 거야.

A: It looks like a work of art! Does he take after you? 예술 작품 같은데! 아빠를 닮아서 그런가?

B: I love how I can read into his inner world through the photos he takes. 아이가 찍은 사진을 통해 아이의 정신 세계를 읽을 수 있어서 좋아.
