The Sacrifice My Husband Makes
 
My husband and I have been married for just over a year, so we're still newlyweds. My husband was a year behind me(↔ahead of me) in the same department at college. He was my cloeset friend for nine years, and we spent a lot of time together.
저와 남편은 결혼한 지 1년이 조금 넘은 신혼부부입니다. 대학 같은 과 1년 후배인 남편은 9년간 저와 가장 절친한 사이였고, 우리는 많은 시간을 함께 보냈습니다.
 
Then, when I turned 30, he proposed to me. His sudden proposal left me deep in thought for a month. Trusting his hardworking and kind nature that I had known for so long, I decided to start going out with him.(=I decided to start dating him. 좀 더 포멀함) After dating for 2 years and 8 months, we finally tied the knot.
그러다 제가 서른 살이 되던 해에 남편이 결혼하자고 고백했습니다. 갑작스러운 고백에 저는 한 달 동안 고민을 많이 했습니다. 그동안 보아 왔던 그의 성실하고 착한 심성을 믿고 저는 연애를 시작하기로 했습니다. 그리고 2년 8개월간의 교제 끝에 마침내 결혼을 했습니다.
 
But the process wasn't easy. My husband was in Bucheon, and I was in Jeonju, so we had(=were in) a long-distance relationship. Despite the tough circumstances, I was moved by his consideration and consistent sacrifice. That's how I decided to marry him. We can't see each other every day, but I feel secure and grateful for my husband, who creates memories with me every week.
하지만 그 과정은 쉽지 않았습니다. 남편은 부천, 저는 전주에 있었기 때문에 장거리 연애를 했습니다. 힘든 상황에서도 남편의 배려와 꾸준한 희생에 감동해서 저는 결혼을 결심하게 되었습니다. 서로 매일 볼 수는 없지만, 한 주도 빠짐없이 저와 추억을 만들어 주는 남편이 있어 든든하고 그에게 감사합니다.

B: Yes, that's right. Our first anniversary is coming up now. 네, 맞아요. 곧 1주년이네요.
A: Are you enjoying married life? 신혼 생활은 행복하시죠?
B: We had known each other for over 10 years before getting married, but married life feels different. 결혼 전에 서로 10년을 알고 지냈는데도, 결혼 생활은 또 다르네요.
A: Of course it does! 그럼요!
B: We only meet on weekends because of his job, so we miss each other even more.
남편 근무지 때문에 주말에만 만나게 되니, 서로 더욱 애틋한 것 같아요.
