New Year's Plans

 

At our company, each department begins planning for the new year's projects in early December. Team members discuss and decide on the main business initiatives(이 니셔티브) for the upcoming year.

​우리 회사는 각 부서별로 새해 업무 계획을 12월 초부터 구상하ㅍㅍ기 시작한다. 부서원들이 신년에 어떠한 업무를 주요 사업으로 추진할 것인지를 함께 논의해서 결정한다.

 

While I was making work plans, I thought that I should also set some personal life goals. My first commitment that came to mind was to keep an English diary.

​업무 구상을 하던 중, '내 인생의 계획도 세워야 하는 것이 아닌가' 하는 생각이 들었다. 영어로 일기를 써야겠다는 다짐이 우선 떠올랐다.

 

I decided to save at least 150,000 won from my monthly allowance to prepare for retirement. I also gave some thought to finally starting cello lessons, something I've been planning for the past two years.

​아울러, 퇴직 후를 대비해 매달 용돈에서 15만원 이상을 저축해야겠다는 결심도 했다. 그리고 2년 전 부터 계획했던 첼로 배우기도 드디어 시작해야겠다는 생각을 해 보았다.

 

I hope I can follow through on these plans. I look forward to the satisfaction of seeing an improved version of myself compared to last year.

나는 이러한 계획들이 잘 실행될 수 있기를 바란다. 작년보다 발전된 나 자신을 발견하게 될 때 느껴질 그 뿌듯함이 기대된다.

A: I thought it might be good to use it to keep an English diary. 거기에 영어 일기를 쓰면 면좋을 것 같아서요.

B: Ah, that's doable now. After all, we can also use tools like ChatGPT. 아, 이제는 가능하겠네요. ChatGPT같은 도구도 사용할 수 있으니까요.

A: It'll be good English practice, and a nice way to look back on memories later. 영작 연습도 되고, 나중에 추억을 떠올리기에도 좋을 것 같아요.

B: I'll start by writing about this conversation as my first diary entry of the year! 이 대화를 통해 첫 일기를 쓰면서 시작해야겠네요!
