Early Morning Deliveries

 

These days, you can shop for groceries online. I often make use of these services. If I place an order by a certain time, the items are delivered to my front door the next morning. You can buy almost anything, from fresh grocery items like milk, eggs, and meat to snacks, bread, and side dishes.

요즘은 인터넷으로 식료품을 구매할 수 있다. 나도 이 서비스를 자주 이용한다. 특정 시간까지 주문을 하면, 다음 날 아침 현관문 앞에 상품들이 배송되어 있다. 우유나 달걀, 고기 등의 신선 식품부터 과자, 빵, 반찬까지 없는 게 없다.

 

It's very convenient, but there are downsides as well. The biggest issue is the waste produced by the packaging and shipping. Ice packs, dry ice, bubble wrap, and boxes all end up as trash.

​무척 편리하지만, 물론 단점도 존재한다. 가장 큰 문제는 포장 및 배송으로 인해 배출되는 쓰레기이다. 얼음 팩과 드라이아이스, 에어 캡, 그리고 박스에 이르기까지 이 모든 것들이 결국 버려지는 쓰레기들이다.

I hope companies will find smart ways to overcome these downsides while still providing high-quality services.

​기업들이 앞으로 이러한 단점들을 현명하게 극복할 방법을 찾으면서 양질의 서비스를 제공했으면 좋겠다.

A: Same here. It's really convenient. 저도 그래요. 정말 편리하기는 해요.

B: The problem is that frozen food sometimes arrives partially thawed. 가끔 냉동 식품이 일부 녹아서 오는 경우가 있기는 하더라고요.

A: I've also received fruits or vegetables with mold on them. You have to check them thoroughly. 그리고 곰팡이가 생긴 과일이나 채소를 받은 적도 있어서, 잘 살펴봐야 해요.

B: Yes, that's happened to me, too. 맞아요. 저도 그런 적 있어요.
