Teaching English to Children

​

I majored in English Language and Literature at university and have been teaching English for over 10 years now. I currently work as an instructor for after-school activities at a kindergarten, teaching children aged 3,4 and 5.

저는 대학에서 영미어문학을 전공하고, 영어를 10년 넘게 가르치고 있습니다. 현재 유치원에서 만 3,4,5헤 아이들을 가르치며 방과후 활동 강사로 일하고 있습니다.

Once a month, we read a designated storybook, learn the words from the book and sing songs together. I also creat my own teaching materials to add some fun to the classes. I engage the children in games to keep them interested in the lessons.

한달에 한 번 정해진 스퇴북을 읽고 책에 나오는 단어를 익히고, 노래도 같이 부릅니다. 수업에 재미를 더하기 위해 교구도 직접 만드는 편입니다. 게임을 통해서 아이들이 흥미를 가지고 수업에 참여할 수 있게 합니다.

As the children are experiencing English for the first time through me, I put in a lot of effort researching how to make the process enjoyable. I also brush up on my English pronounciation through "입트영" recitation. I enjoy my job because it drives me to keep working on personal develpment, while enjoying English classes with the children.

아이들이 저를 통해 영어를 처음 접하는 만큼, 저는 어떻게 하면 영어 배우는 과정이 재미있을지 나름대로 연구하여 많이 노력합니다. 또한 '입트영' 낭독을 통해서 영어 발음을 연습하고 있습니다. 아이들과 즐겁게 영어 수업을 하고, 저 또한 자기 계발을 계속하게 되어서 저는 제 일을 즐기고 있습니다.

A: Keeping the children entertained must be crucial, since you're so young. 아이들이 어려서 재미있게 해주는 게 관건이겠어요.

B: Absolutely. It can be challenging to teach when the children get restless. 맞아요. 아이들이 산만해지면 수업하기가 힘들 때도 있어요.

A: You must have your own tricks up your sleeves. 나름대로 노하우가 있으실 듯해요.​

B: Yes, the children's eyes light up with excitement when we play games during lessons. 네, 수업 중에 게임을 하면 아이들이 들떠서 눈이 초롱초롱하게 빛이 나기 시작해요.
