Wildlife Traffic Accident

 

I'm a listener who recently moved to Gangwon-do province because of my job. To celebrate moving to Gangwon-do, I decided to enjoy the winter sport of snowboarding by getting a season pass for the first time. So, at 5 p.m. on New Year's Day, my girlfriend and I set out in my car to drive to the ski resort.

저는 직장 때문에 최근에 강원도로 이사 오게 된 청취자입니다. 강원도에서 살게 ㅗ딘 기념으로 겨울철 스포츠인 스노보드를 즐기기로 하고 처음으로 시즌권을 끊었습니다. 그래서 새해가 되는 날, 여자 친구와 스키장으로 가기 위해 저녁 5시에 차를 타고 출발을 했습니다.

 

But suddenly, out of nowhere, a water deer appeared on the road. I instinctively slammed the brakes, but the deer froze in the headlights and ended up colliding(콜라이드) with my car.

그런데 아뿔싸, 도로에 갑자기 고라니가 나타났습니다. 본능적으로 브레이크를 세게 밟았지만 고라니가 전조등 불빛에 동작을 멈추더니 제 차와 충돌하고 말았습니다.

 

We were in a state of shock, but we quickly gathered ourselves and reported the incident. Since it was a traffic accident on the first day of the new year, we took it as a bit of bad luck and are grateful that no one was hurt.

우리는 어안이 벙벙하였지만 얼른 정신을 차리고 사고 신고를 했습니다. 새해 첫날부터 일어난 교통사고여서, 액땜으로 여기며 아무도 다치지 않은 것만으로도 감사하게 생각하고 있습니다.

A: You have a dent in your front bumper. 차 앞 범퍼가 찌그러졌네요.

B: Yes, I had an accident with a wild animal while driving on a mountain road at night. 네, 밤에 산길을 운전하다가 야생 동물과 사고가 났어요.

A: Oh no, that could have been really dangerous. 저런, 큰일 날 뻔했네요.

B: I can still vividly remember how shocked I was. 너무 깜짝 놀랐던 기억이 아직도 생생히 나요.

A: Thank goodness you weren't hurt. 안 다치셔서 정말 다행이에요.

B: I realized that you need to drive extra carefully in area where wild animals might appear. 야생 동물 출몰 지역에서는 더욱더 안전 운전을 해야 한다는 것을 느꼈어요.
