Watching Soccer with My Son

 

My 10-year-old son is crazy about soccer. One day, we went to watch a soccer match at Suwon World Cup Stadium, which is right near our home.

10살인 우리 아들은 축구를 매우 좋아합니다. 어느 날 우리는 집 근처에 있는 수원 월드컵 경기장에 축구 경기를 보러 갔습니다.

 

I had no interest in soccer and didn't know any of the players. But the moment I entered the stadium and heard the thunderous cheers, I instantly became a supporter of the home team.

저는 축구에 아무 관심이 없었고, 팀 선수들도 아무도 몰랐습니다. 그러나 경기장에 들어가서 그 웅장한 응원 소리를 듣는 순간, 바로 홈 팀의 응원 멤버가 되었습니다.

 

Ever since that day, my son and I have really gotten into watching soccer matches and rooting for the team. My son and I now have a common interest and we have lots to talk about. This has brought us closer together. Being able to share a hobby is truly a great blessing.

*We share the same birthday. 우린 생일이 같아요.

그 날 이후, 저와 제 아들은 축구 경기 관전과 팀 응원에 푹 빠졌습니다. 저와 아들은 이제 공통의 관심사가 생겼고 대화거리도 많아져서, 더욱 가까워질 수 있었습니다. 같은 취미 활동이 생긴다는 것은 정말 큰 축복입니다.

A: What did you do over the weekend? 주말에 뭐 하셨어요?

B: I went to watch a soccer match with my son. 아들과 축구 경기를 직관하고 왔어요.

A: Oh, really? How was it? 아, 그래요? 어땠어요?

B: It was fun, but our team was demoted to the second division for the first time ever this year. 재미는 있었는데, 우리 팀이 사상 처음으로 올해 2부 리그로 강등이 되었어요.

A: Oh no, I see. 아이고, 그랬군요.

B: Still, we're rooting for the team. We're hoping they'll return to the first division soon.

그래도 우리는 끝가지 팀을 응원하며, 1부 리그로 곧 복귀하기를 바라고 있어요.
