Audiobook Trip

 

I am a working mom raising three young children while holding down(유지하다) a job. I used to enjoy reading paper books, but as I juggled work and parenting, I couldn't make time to read. That's when I happened to discover audiobooks.

​저는 어린 세 아이를 키우면서 직장을 다니는 워킹맘입니다. 전에는 종이책 읽는 것을 좋아했는데, 일과 육아를 병행하다 보니 도저히 책을 읽을 시간이 나지 않더라고요. 그러다 우연히 알게 된 것이 바로 오디오북이었습니다.

 

Talented voice actors read the books and fill them with life. I listen to books about culture and self-help books, but l especially enjoy listening to novels. My biggest source of energy these days is listening to audiobooks for two or three hours every day, during my commute or before bed. I listen to an average of 40 to 50 books a month.

​훌륭한 성우분들이 생동감 있게 글을 읽어 주십니다. 교양 서적과 자기 계발 서적은 물론, 특히 소설을 듣는 재미가 아주 쏠쏠합니다. 출퇴근길이나 잠들기 전에 매일 두세 시간씩 오디오북을 듣는 것이 요 즘 저의 가장 큰 활력소입니다. 매달 평균 40~50권의 책을 듣고 있습니다.

 

With(~의 경우) movies, every scene is shown visually, so there is less tension. But audiobooks engage my imagination, making them feel more vivid than any movie.

​영화는 모든 장면이 다 눈에 보여서 오히려 긴장감이 덜합니다. 그러나 오디오북은 나의 상상력이 가 미되어서, 그 어떤 영화보다도 생동감이 넘칩니다.

A : I'm so swamped at work that I don't even have the time to properly read a book. 일이 너무 많아서 책 한 권 제대로 읽을 여유도 없네요.

B : Why don't you try listening to audiobooks? 오디오북을 들어 보지 그러세요?

A : Oh, that's a good idea. 아, 그거 좋은 생각이네요

B : It's great because you can even listen while you're on the go(=move). 이동 중에도 들을 수 있어서 너무 좋아요.

A : That makes sense.그렇겠네요.

B : I also listen with my eyes closed before going to sleep at night. 저는 밤에 자기 전에 눈을 감고 듣기도 해요.
