Auditor

 

I work as an auditor. I use the term "auditor" in English, but unlike a regular accountant, I don't verify companies' financial statements. Instead, I assess and evaluate their management systems.

​저는 심사원이라는 직업을 가졌습니다. 심사원은 영어로 auditor라고 하지만, 일반 회계사처럼 기업의 재무 상태를 검증하지는 않습니다. 대신, 기업의 경영 시스템을 점검하고 평가하는 일을 합니다.

 

I review companies and offer advice based on their effectiveness in areas like quality, environment, and safety. Lately, with the global focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, I also assess companies' ESG status.

​저는 기업이 품질, 환경, 안전 등의 분야에서 효과적으로 운영되고 있는지 검토하고 조언을 하고 있습니다. 요즘은 전 세계적인 ESG(환경, 사회, 지배 구조) 경영의 흐름에 따라, 기업의 ESG 상태를 평가 하기도 합니다.

 

As an auditor, I travel all(=across) over the country, meeting new people every day. I have to arrive in time for each company's start of the workday, so l often travel early in the morning. Traveling so much can be exhausting, but I keep studying in my spare time to better support my clients.

심사원인 저는 전국 방방곡곡을 돌아다니며 매일매일 새로운 사람들을 만납니다. 각 기업의 근무 시작 시간에 맞춰 도착해야 하기 때문에, 새벽에 이동하는 경우도 많습니다. 이동을 많이 하면 몸이 피곤할 때가 많지만, 고객에게 더 나은 도움을 주고자 틈나는 대로 계속 공부하고 있습니다.

B: No, I mostly focus on reviewing companies' management systems. 아니요. 저는 주로 기업의 경영 시스템을 점검하는 일을 해요.

A: Oh, I see. 아, 그렇군요.

B: I visit various companies, so l often work in the field. 여러 기업들을 방문해야 해서, 외근이 많은 편이에요.
