Time Capsule
I first landed a job at my company in 2009. At that time, my fellow new recruits and I decided to bury a time capsule in a flower bed in front of the company building, planning to open it 15 years later. We wrote letters to our future selves, vacuum-sealed them along with our job application forms, and placed them in the time capsule.
나는 2009년에 우리 회사에 처음 입사했다. 당시에 입사 동기들과 함께 회사 건물 앞 화단에 타임캡슐을 묻어 15년 뒤에 열어 보기로 했다. 우리는 미래의 나에게 편지를 써서 입사 지원서와 함께 진공 포장을 하여 타임캡슐에 담았다.
Fifteen years passed in the blink of an eye, and the time came to open the time capsule. Some colleagues had left the company, so only 12 remained out of the original 22. We gathered at a restaurant, shared a delicious meal, and talked about this and that.
어느새 15년이 지나 타임캡슐을 열어 볼 시간이 되었다. 퇴사한 동기들도 있어서 22명 중 12명만 남았다. 우리는 레스토랑에 모여 맛있는 음식들을 함께 먹으며 이런저런 얘기를 나누었다.
Finally, we retrieved(되찾다,회수하다) the letters we had buried in the time capsule. One person read them aloud on behalf of everyone. The letters were filled with hopes for our future careers, marriage, and our parents' health. They were so touching that they brought tears to our eyes. I hope to continue enjoying a happy career, working with my beloved(빌러비드) colleagues.
마침내 타임캡슐에 묻었던 편지를 꺼내서, 한 명이 대표로 낭독을 했다. 편지에는 앞으로의 회사 생활 에 대한 포부와 결혼, 부모님의 건강에 대한 바람 등이 가득 담겨 있었다. 눈물이 날 만큼 감동적인 내용이었다. 앞으로도 소중한 동기들과 함께 일하며 행복한 회사 생활을 계속하고 싶다.

A: My colleagues and I buried a time capsule when we first joined the company. 회사에 처음 입사했을 때 동기들과 함께 타임캡슐을 묻었어요.
B: Really? How many years ago was that? 정말요? 그게 몇 년 전이었어요?
A: It's been 15 years already. I don't know where the time went. 벌써 15년 전이네요. 시간이 어떻게 지나갔는지 모르겠어요.
B: Did you recently open it? 그걸 최근에 열어 본 거예요?
A: Yes, everyone who is still with the company got together for dinner and opened it together. 네. 회사에 아직 남아 있는 사람들이 모두 모여서 저녁 식사를 하며 함께 열어 보았어요.
B: Oh, that must have been such a moving experience. 아, 정말 감동스러운 자리였겠어요.
