They're so majestic! 참 위풍당당하다!

Mom : Look at those lions, they're so majestic! 저 사자들 좀 봐, 참 위풍당당하다!

Son : Yeah, Mom, they're awesome! Can we get closer? 네, 엄마! 진짜 멋져요! 우리 좀 더 가까이 가 봐도 돼요?

Mom : We need to stay behind the safety barriers, it's safer that way. 우린 안전 장벽 뒤에 있어야 돼. 그래야 더 안전하거든.

Son : Okay, I'll be careful. 알았어요, 조심할게요.

Mom : Look, a giraffe over there is munching on leaves. 봐, 저쪽에 기린이 이파리를 우적우적 먹고 있네. * munch on ~을 아직아작 씹어 먹다

Son : Wow, they have really long necks! Can we see the elephants next? 와, 정말 목이 길어요! 이제 다음에 코끼리 보러 가도 돼요?

April

​

If someone were ask to me my favorite month of the year, I would say without hesitation that it's April.

누군가 저에게 일 년 중에 몇 월이 가장 좋으냐고 물으면, 저는 주저 없이 4월이라고 말할 것입니다.

​

First of all, I was born in April. I moved for the first time when I was in grade school, and I had to tansfer to a new school. That happened in April. In college, I got my driver's license in April and I also started my military service in April. So, April has been a month filled with significant life events for me.

일단 저는 4월에 태어났습니다. 초등학교 때 처음으로 이사를 하게 되어 새 학교로 전학을 가야 했는데, 그때가 4월이었습니다. 대학생 땐느 운전면허를 취득한 날도 4월이었고, 군 입대도 4월에 했습니다. 이렇게 4월은 제 인생에 중대한 일들이 많았던 달이었습니다.

By the solar calendar, April and December of the same year always end on the same day of the week. April and July always start on the same day of the week. In Japan, the start of the school year is in April and it's the start of the new fiscal year for many companies.

양력으로 4월과 그 해의 12월은 항상 같은 요일로 끝나고, 4월과 그 해의 7월은 항상 같은 요일로 시작합니다. 일본에서는 4월에 학교 개학을 하고, 새 회계 연도가 시작되는 회사가 많습니다.

I hope this year brings nothing but good luck to people who have birthdays in April.

​올해도 4월에 생일이 있으신 분들에게 좋은 일들만 가득한 한 해가 되었으면 좋겠습니다.

A: When is your birthday? 너 생일이 언제지?

B: It's on April 13th. It's the week after next. 4월 13일이야. 다다음 주.

A: That's just around the corner. 얼마 안 남았네.

B: Yeah, both of my parent's birthdays in April and their wedding aniversary is in April, too. 그러게. 부모님 두 분 생신도 4월이고, 결혼기념일도 4월이야.

A: Really? You sure have a lot of special occasions this month. 정말? 이번 달에 특별한 날이 많네.

B: Yeah, By the time we've celebrated each of them, the month has gone by in a flash.

응. 다 챙기다 보면 한 달이 금방 지나가.
